Malcolm X wants to use the non-violence tactic whether than violence. Its okay but you have to be persistent whenever you are trying to get your point across in society. It takes a strong person to be consistent and become motivated when dealing with real life issues.

You should have left this comment on the Malcolm X blog. This part of the blog is intended for my speech class. It is okay because I will give you credit. I agree with you that it does take a strong person to be persistent. I also agree with you that many people mistakenly feel that Malcolm X advocated violence. The fact is that he believed in violence only as a form of retaliation.

Anonymous: who are you? I need to give credit to you for the post you made about the debate. The judges have their own independent criteria, but I have given them several guidelines. They evaluate each round and rate the performance of each team. They evaluate each team in terms of presentation, persuasiveness, etiquette (did the team break any rules?), and their own criteria that they agree upon. The judges have not said that the for team has lost the debate. The debate is not over until the very end. I do not know how the judges evaluated the second round, but I do know they were very impressed by Ani's speech. They will present their argument at the end of the class. By the way, I issue the final grade for both groups. The winning group receives the higher grade, while the losing group receives the lower of the two grades. The losing group does not receive a failing grade. Also, it is possible that the winning group could receive a lower grade than expected if both groups perform poorly. I do think that I will take into account the fact that the class was too unruly during the second half of the debate. I feel that both groups need to be less talkative and more civil. As for my view of the performance of both groups, I think the first group performed slightly better in the first round, while the second round was probably a toss up. That means the third round will probably be vital for success. Lastly, the judges will present their evaluation of both groups at the end of the debate. They will provide their reasons for their views and will make an informed judgment.

Juanisha Munford from Fundamental of Speech.... i think the debate was very exciting and a learning experience. it taught me a little more about doing a debate the only thing that i was confused about was the grading scale that came from the judges. it was a very competitive debate.

Thank you Juanisha. The judges presented their criteria and their points to the class. Thank you for your feedback. I enjoyed the debate as well. My suggestions are that both teams need to be more polite and better prepared. I found that both teams could have read less from notes. On the other hand, I was delighted that people took interest in the debate. I was also happy to learn from students as well. All in all, I believe it was a successful exercise. I hope that people will prepare more for the next debate.

The speech was what of a powerful one also very persuading. Mr Washington showed a very different route that black people should have took and it may have lead to less chaos. Yet it still to my understanding it tried to lead black people to so what lower their standards towards another race.

I think that its a great thing to talk about other heros such as Marcus Garvey. We as African Americans always here about Malcolm X, Martin Luther King, Jr., and Rosa Parks. We should be able to research people who havent had the recognition like these particular people did. Marcus Garvey had just as many struggles as the people I mentioned. I believe that it is great to be able to broaden your horizons and explore other African Americans.
