THIS JUSTIN BENTLEY AN I WANT TO TALK ABOUT WHY COLONIALISM IS STILL GOING ON IN THE WESTERN WORLD. THE WESTERN WORLD IS SCARED OF CHANGE AND THEY GO BY WHAT THERE PPL ID BEFORE THEM BECAUSE THEY FEEL LIKE THAT IS THE RIGHT WAY TO HANDLE THINGS,AND MOST OF THEM ARE NOT WELL EDUCATED TO WHAT IS RIGHT AND WHAT IS WRONG...I DO AGREE WITH MALCOLM THAT THE OTHER NATIONS ARE STANDING UP FOR THEM SELFS BECAUSE THEY ARE SOME WHAT RELIZING THAT THEY HAVE A VOICE TO SPEAK AGAINST WHAT IS GOING ON IN THIS WORLD THEY LIVE IN. I THINK HE WOULD ADVICE OBAMA TO DO THE BEST TO HAVE THE BEST OUTCOME.... HE WOULD SAY PPL ARE FIGHTING OVER NONE SINCE IN THE PALESTIAM WAR AND CONFLICT..I THINK HE WOUKD SUPPORT THE PEACE IN THE MIDDLE EAST, AN THEY SHOULD HAVE THE RIGHT TO DEFEND THEMSELFS...

i didnt get a chance to watch obamas inaugurial speech, but with get resources and advances that wew made in technology i watched it on youtube and i feel like obama didnt really want to offend anyone by talking how he was the first black president and he didnt really talk about how far we have come as black ppl or any of our great histirians before him.. so if i could rate that speech in history i would give him a C-

I FEEL THAT OBAMA BECOMING THE FIRST BLACK PRESIDENT WOULD HOLD GREAT WEIGHT BEHIND HIS NAME BECAUSE SOME WHITE PPL FEEL A AFRICAN AMERICAN CANT HOLD A HIGH SPOT OF AUTHORITY BECAUSE THEY FEEL THE PERSON WOULD NOT DO WELL...SO IT IS IMPORTANT FOR OBAMA TO DO WELL SO GENERATIONS AFTER HIM CAN HAVE THE CHANCE TO BECOME WHAT THEY WANT TO BE WITHOUT BEING LOOK ON AS THEY CANT CANT DO IT AS A REAL EQUAL TO THE THE JOB THAT THEY WANT TO DO...

I FEEL MALCOLM X SAY THAT WE ARE STILL ENSALVED MENTALLY BECAUSE WE AS BLACK PPL DONT TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE THINGS THAT ARE PRESENTED TO US WE JUST SIT BACK AN LETS THINGS HAPPEN TO US WITHOUT FIGHTING FOR WHAT WE BELIEVE IN....AND PLUS WE LET WHAT THE WHITE MAN SAY GET TO US AND WE SIT BACK IN THE BACK OF THE FOOD CHAIN AND SETTLE FOR LESS INSTEAD OF GOING FOR WHAT WE BELIEVE IN, BECAUSE MOST OF THE TIME WE DONT HAVE ANYONE PUSHING US TO DO BETTER

I agree with Malcolm when he said that the Third world countries are starting to stand up for themselves cause everything is about money. We buy good from the U.N and T.W.C but they are not making any money cause the western world tells them how much they are going to pay for there goods. Now the these countries are what to make money so they are making demands on how much they want for everything there sealing..... M. Moss

This Latasha Williams. I want to leave a comment on Colonialism also . I believe that colonialism is going on in the Western World becasue there is not enough people in the world willing to stop the injustice and because of the ecomomic repercussions of the change. If all peole were treated as humans it would mean that the western world would be unable to mistreat and abuse others which is something that we are not ready for.

Dr.Comprone another thing I found interested in poetry selection African Americna Literature was that the poets used there gifts to uplift the African American community. Such as revealing injustices like laghston hughes or issues that African Americans faced like Mari Evans discussed.I feel that it is interested taht no one can dicuss any 21st century poetry who are using there gifts to such now. I hope that one day we can have a New Renaissance that encourages uplifting of the African race.

In the sermons portion of the vernacular part of class. I found it interesting that we discuss the way that church affected the African Americans. Martin Luther King both have distinct messages that can heard in there sermons. However I do feel that religion makes a sermon or speech more infusion with a purpose. Obama also is a great speaker whose speeches which can be considered not only a speech but a sermon. Sermons seem to have the characteristic of volume, purpose and most of all positive ness. I think sermons are the best way to see some of the best speeches in the country

Dr. Comprone I also found the movie within in our Gates an extremely good way to relate to the struggles that were much harder by Blacks in the south. I believe that Blacks in the south were significantly behind in education because the north was modernized a lot quicker that that of the south and that is still present in 2009. I believe that the fact the main character was a women and showed her as a heroin shows how much Toomer appreciated women. Which can also be seen in his works and his writing.

The Spirituals were a very powerful and emotional part of class. I found it amazing of how the slaves were living life less than poverty and still found hope and faith in God. It is so amazing the strength that slaves found in the fields and the house of slave owners. I believe that those ancestors would be elated to know that they built the ground work for the freedom that we enjoy today. I do not believe that I would have been able to live, love and parent in a environment that felt I was an animals how brave of them to be able to imagine a world where there would be freedom for all people. The spiritual show slave in the light of prophet it was as if the slaves knew that they were they for a purpose and not only believed that we would be free but in fact expected it.

Rap was also an interesting part of vernacular also. Rap was originally started in new York as a way for people to express the struggles that African Americans. It was truly positive and as I listen to rap from the 1970’s and 1980. I found out that rarely was a person attacked personally. Instead they attacked issues and situations, weather it was about the becoming the best lyrist or to educate the community on being a better person. However, in the late 1980’s to early 1990 when rap culture became a marketable product. The whole system of African Americans being thought of in a positive light disappeared. I do not blame the record companies, the white executive. I instead believe that is the fault of the artist we give excuses for the fact that the only thing a person is trying to do is make money however no can simply blame lack of money as a consist reason to show black people as ignorant and portray these images to children and others as the only thing that we could be capable of. I hope one they artist will take responsible for the music that they put out

Gospel was a spiritual part of the class that was closely related to spirituals. However I feel that gospel was closely geared towards how to live in this life. Gospel seems to be to be more empowering. Gospel can be uplifting and can be at any tempo and version. Gospel was the base of many more new forms of African Americans such as Rhythm and blues and neo soul. Gospel was powerful, emotional, uplifting and soul stirring. I believe that a person could have any situation and if they hold on to their faith and listen to gospels they will feel better immediately

10. I have learned a lot in African American History. This class has inspired to do my own self study of things that we do not consider such as the things that Malcolm X taught on though process of the history that was erased. I believe that the types of music and poetry that we used were very important and worth studying. In African American literature surely was worthy of respect and honor. I believe that these writings give a specific look of our history and I enjoyed
