I do not think it is a smart idea to pursue investments in environmental technologies while we are in a recession. I think right now the government needs to work on our economy issue for the year 2009, what good is giving millions of people jobs in the year 2025 when everyone is out of work now.
I don't think the government can give incentives to private businesses to invest in renwable energy, with out taking more money out of the tax payers.
I think Obama's plan is ambitious enough, but I think he needs to be more concerned with the economy right now, and then he can worry with the environmental technologies. I do think the environmental issue is important, but right now I think we need to be concerned with getting people jobs now.

Dear Karen,
That is an important point. The only objection I have is that during a recession, the government always spends more money to get us out of the recession. So, if the government didn't spend money on a green economy, it would have to spend more money to do something else. It sounds strange, but during a recession, the government must do something to stimulate the economy because people have less faith in businesses. That is why so much money is going into a green economy and helping the banks.
