This is my personal web page designed for my students and for those who are interested in the work of an ordinary college professor. I have a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from SUNY-Buffalo and a B.A. in French Literature and Cultural Anthropology. I have worked as an intern for the International Herald Tribune in Paris, France, and I have written a book employing critical theory to analyze African American literature during the Harlem Renaissance. The book is entitled Poetry, Desire, and Fantasy in the Harlem Renaissance, and it was published by the University Presses of America in 2006. I also have a forthcoming book on Latin American literature, which will be published by Edwin Mellen Press in 2008.

NEW: I ran the Outer Banks Half Marathon and finished 13.11 miles in 1 hour and 53 minutes.
