Final Exam Schedule

 

Please bring your permit for your final exam. You may not take your final exam without a permit.

 

 

8-9:50 a.m.    Monday         The Novel         RH 136 (my office)

 

       For this final exam, be prepared to write an essay on Yukio Mishima's novel

       The Sound of Waves. Address the theme of nature and relate to Mishima's

       treatment of sexuality. Write according to MLA format and include at least three

       quotes.

 

10-11:50 a.m. Tuesday   Developmental English  RH 210

       

       Write an essay discussing the importance of becoming literate about environmental        issues. Discuss what you learned during the semester about global warming,                climate change, and the current ecological crisis. You may discuss films that we                watched and draw upon information concerning the current debate concerning                climate change. Discuss some of the solutions proposed to solving the problem of                global warming and discuss why people should educate themselves about                        environmental issues.

 

1-2:50 p.m. Tuesday Honors English Chicago Building Basement

1-2:50 p.m.  Wednesday  African American Literature Kiva

 

       Write an essay comparing and contrasting two works from the African American

        vernacular tradition. You may use The Norton Anthology of African American                 Literature during the exam. Use the MLA format when quoting and cite your                   sources.

 

10-11:50 a.m. Thursday Speech  R/Lab

 

       Write an essay debating whether we should support universal health care for all

        Americans or not. Discuss the three options available in your essay: single payer                (there are no insurance programs that you have to pay; there is only one                        government plan); Obama's plan (a government plan exists, but private insurance        is also available); and no government health care plan. State three reasons for                your argument and then rebut (refute/disprove) three opposing arguments and                end your essay with a conclusion. You may draw on sources from the Internet in                your argument (bring sources to class and document where you got them from).
